Whether you have a playground in your home or a public play space, it is important that you take the time to ensure it is safe for children. It is also crucial that you select equipment that is crafted with high quality materials so that it can stand up to the wear and tear of daily use.
The best way to do this is by ensuring that the playground is constructed using equipment that has been certified to meet the appropriate Canadian Standards Association (CSA) safety standards. This will help prevent injuries from occurring, and will give you peace of mind that the playground is a safe environment for your child.
When buying playground equipment, it is essential to do your research on the product and make sure that it is properly inspected and installed by qualified professionals. This will give you peace of mind that the equipment is safe and will also help you make the right purchasing decision for your needs.
Once you’ve made your selection, it is important to schedule a one-time safety audit and regular preventative maintenance inspections so that the equipment can be checked for damage or wear. These inspections should be specific and strive to address potential issues before they become safety risks.
A playground safety 검증놀이터 audit should be conducted by someone who has received training as a National Playground Safety Institute’s Certified Playground Safety Inspector. These professionals have the expertise to conduct a detailed inspection of all of the safety features on the playground, making sure that they are working properly and that there are no problems that can lead to injury.
Inspect the playground at least once a day to look for any damage or wear. This will help you determine if the playground is functioning correctly and will help you make any necessary repairs before the equipment becomes a safety hazard.
Check for loose or broken springs and look at the flooring, nets and lashing of suspended games for holes and cracks. These can be a sign of improper installation or can indicate that the equipment is not a good fit for your playground.
Always make sure that the playground has protective surfacing that extends at least 6 feet in all directions from each piece of playground equipment. This includes all swings, slides, climbers and other playground structures.
As part of the playground safety program, the Park & Golf Operations Division conducts monthly playground inspections. These inspections are performed by trained staff and include a visual scan of the playground and the safety surfacing.
When a playground inspection is complete, the Park & Golf Operations Division staff will record all of the findings and schedule any needed repair work. If an item is found to be unsafe or unserviceable, it will be closed off until repairs can be completed.
